Five consonants. Four words. One .com.

RDCTN is what survives when you strip the vowels from reduction, redaction, eradication and the French rédaction — and what survives is identical in all four. Three of them mean the same thing: taking something away.

It is a five-character .com for a company whose product is subtraction — carbon, cost, risk, waste, dose, noise, a threat on a network, or the parts of a document nobody outside may read.

The near misses do not collide, which is unusual for five letters: radiation → RDTN · dedication → DDCTN · reduplication → RDPLCTN. One skeleton, one field of meaning.

One Latin stem, not a pun

The French academy glosses the Latin root of rédaction as réduction. So reduction and redaction are not two words that happen to share five consonants: they descend from one stem, redigere — to drive back, to bring down. RDCTN is that stem stripped to its bones, and it still carries every meaning the stem grew into.

The obvious objections

Nobody can pronounce it.

Correct, and it should be said plainly: RDCTN is spelled, not spoken — Romeo Delta Charlie Tango November. That is a real cost, and it is the reason a five-letter .com is available at this price at all. It matters if your customers arrive by word of mouth. It matters much less if they arrive through a link, a search result, a repo, a procurement document or a QR code.

rdctn.io is free. Why pay for the .com?

It is, and if a different ending works for you, take it — genuinely, that is the honest answer. The .com is for the case where you would rather not spell your own address out on every call, watch mail bounce to a domain you do not own, or explain the ending to an investor. That is the whole pitch. There is no traffic story attached and none will be invented for you.

Dropping vowels was a 2010s fad.

The fashion is over — abrdn undid it and went back to Aberdeen. But Flickr and Tumblr dropped a vowel to get an available spelling; nothing was behind it. Here the compression is the meaning: strip the excess from reduction and you get a name that does what it sells. That does not date, because it was never a trend.
